Matt just made the Old Pal cocktail from the NYTimes a few weeks ago: dry vermouth, Campari, and rye. It was horrid. We threw it out after two sips. I’d rather have straight rye or straight Campari or fuck it let’s just make Negronis.
Were the proportions off to you? Should there have been more rye or more Campari? I haven’t seen the recipe, but I’m really curious to know what went wrong as I love both Campari and rye and therefore this cocktail would be appealing to me.
